------The Hidden View------

I like to walk not hike like some
not to go someplace or with someone
just me alone or ride a horse on some trail
where the path has not been trodden in quiet a while
but not to think about my life
just be alive and look at what I can see
almost as if I am invisible
silently feeling overwhelmed
by the majesty of all that is before me
that wasn't intended by man
but just there
and myself
not being a master or servant
but a part of life
running over hills with the fox
nesting with the hawk
or landing on the lake with the geese
then roosting with wild turkeys in the pines
or blowing with the wind
to who knows where
to stop and watch a big oak grow
reliving his memories of years ago
then wondering to myself
if anyone else takes walks like me.
