Along the Way

Music = Chariots of Fire

You've traveled life's road and took many chances
Always looking ahead with few backward glances
Now the journey's half over and you're getting weary
For the burdens once easy seem harder to carry

Time once moved so slowly and you couldn't wait
To meet with your future and create your fate
Dreams, lofty and grand, were always your goal
Nothing to fear, and with each step be bold

The gateway swung open for you to pursue
Slay dragons,clear forest,and mountains subdue
Your drive was intent and seldom it strayed
You could always recover the times that you played

The days were much brighter and songbirds would sing
Your will was so strong to grab life's golden ring
You traveled thru tunnels but still saw the light
Dreams conquered all summits when you slept at night

Life marches forward and does not repeat any day
You either lead or you follow or get out of the way
Now the tunnels seems longer and bright dreams grow dim
It looks like others were destined to win life's fair gem

You dreamed in your heart to come out on the top
You fought gallant battles but the war wouldn't stop
Some times you would win and others you lost
You could have tried harder but sacrifices cost

You sit back and wonder what you could have had
A lifetime of leisure, would that be so bad
To have all that you wanted and never a care
A piece of good fortune, at least a small share

You can just count your blessing and continually strive
To meet obligations and just stay alive
You could have tried harder, these thoughts give you pain
Now the light in the tunnel may be an oncoming train.
