------Texas------

Music = Down Yonder

I've traveled thru Texas more than just twice
Some friends who reside there say it's pretty nice
But those wide open spaces and limited trees
I never would long for, give me tall mountains please
And forests with meadows, with valleys included
The plains aren't my favorite place I've concluded

The nice folks who settled in that desolate land
have accepted the notion their environment is grand
They like tumbleweeds and for sagebrush they long
Summer's heat and cold winters I've heard makes them strong
At least so they say and sometimes they brag
Texas grows only giants and they all love their flag

I've crossed the U.S. and been in far away places
Stayed in five-star hotels and dined in real fancy places
And I've slept in real dumps and ate greasy spoon food
But three-days driving through Texas creates a bad mood
Though the Texans may brag and their tales may be tall
I guess a Lone Star is better than no star at all
