------A Stellar Observation------

One day on a trip to nowhere,
I was cruising the edges of space.
When suddenly I saw a small planet
and wondered who's running the place.

The planet was blue-green and quite pretty,
it reminded me of my home.
Maybe intelligent life would be down there,
or at least where wild animals roam.

I slowed down and floated above it
down to where my eyes could peek.
There were cities and towns filled with people,
I thought, should I dare stop to speak.

What was their level of progress,
had civility reached beyond war?
Had they defeated greed and exploitation
as my planet had done long before?

What I saw was worldwide endeavor
of corruption and ambitions blind plight
Evolution had not been completed
these lifeforms had not seen the light

I decided my adventure was over
yet saddened by what I had seen
The planet was faced with two choices
self destruction or learn what life means
