Self-Righteousness

Are you really all that perfect,
as great as what you think
God's great gift to the human race,
and of course your B.M.'s don't stink
What makes you think you're special,
a notch above the rest
each achievement bigger and better
and "your" way is always best

It seems I've notice lately,
self-righteousness does abound
I wonder who are the Indians
with all these Chiefs around
Does being your own person
really mean that you're elite
possessing more suave and debonair
than anyone you meet

This attitude is being accepted
across each city and town
You're on the road to failure
less you act like you're born with a crown
There are so many common men today
although their standards are higher
Yet they think that they're a king or a prince
when all they are is a liar

The drawbacks of charting this course
affects both sides of the fence
enduring the stress of the faker
or berated by self-righteous pretense
Although we abide this charade,
we all return to the ground
whether we are ever-so truthful
or wearing a make-believe crown

So avoid depression and lessen the stress
please consider this tip
Remember we all walk on common ground
and sometime those high horses slip.
