------Papa's Girl------

It happened to me one warm summer day
Someone entered my heart and decided to stay
I was caught unaware of the joy she would bring
And how each day she would make my heart sing
I saw as she grew with the blink of an eye
She could make me so happy and not even try

Bubble gum ice cream and riding a train
Chasing a puppy or watching the rain
Helping with dishes or catching a fish
She will always remember her Disneyland wish
She likes Christmas shopping for gifts in the store
But insists on getting each person one more

Now schoolbells are calling and she's feeling quite smart
I hope she will grow up and not break my heart
Today we measure our love from our toes to our nose
But my bud will blossom and become a sweet rose

Soon I'll become just a small part of her life
And years down the road she'll become someone's wife
For now I can hold her and comfort her cry
Still she will stay Papa's girl till the day that I die
