------A Road Must be Taken------
I surely am no expert
nor have a PHD
but look at all who have one
my, how they disagree
I'm sure they're educated
on politics and such
no matter how they polish words
they sure don't show me much
I'm just an average citizen
who listens for the truth
instead of taking "all" for fact
like overzealous youth
It's said the road to hell is paved
with so much good intent
well, heaven's road is rocky too
with bumps, bruises and dissent
and forest sometimes can't be seen
for all those darn old trees
but look and ask the question why
our flag flies in the breeze
You'll find the answer hidden there
between the stars and bars
Our country is the way it is
by fighting freedoms wars
Some say we should have never gone
to fight across the sea
But if we had to fight right here
I'm sure they'd disagree
our plan I think was worthwhile
after pros and cons were weighed
we not only freed the Afgans
Iraq was given aid
and once we heard opinions
of Afgan womens plight
of how they were mistreated
was freeing them not right
Al Queda and the Taliban
were terrorist we know
or did we lie and make that up
to build someone's ego
and none discusses Sadam's bomb
so many people slain
surely that wasn't WMD
I heard no dead complain
And what about the world UN,
resolutions Sadam dismissed
I think these justify some force
would you like to see the list
They say we can not be police
or be our brother's keepers
weren't Cusay, Uday and old Sadam
somewhat Iraq's grim reapers
We made our plan and said a vow
to see world freedom spread
and knew the roads get rough at times
and find our young men dead
still what's the price of freedom
and terrorist demise
is it worth the effort
or do we close our eyes
I wonder what today would bring
if all Iraq would stand
and pledge to all their countrymen
for peace throughout the land
I say we need to teach world peace
but others vow to fight
to keep their way of wickedness
and rule thru fear and might
The world must somehow realize
the planet won't long endure
If we can never get along
we'll self-destruct for sure
So listen with an open mind
and look for all the clues
just think of what you have to gain
and all you have to lose
The road to lasting worldwide peace
is certainly not easy
and won't be won by backing down
being faint of heart or queasy
The plan I heard for mideast peace
seemed what the world had wanted
at least "some" plan was tried this time
and leaders must be undaunted
