I've never sat and hugged a tree
or gave much thought to ecology.

But in years past, mankind did wrong
and forgot to care for hearth and home.

Now most everyone's aware 
and I believe perhaps they care.

Yes, saving animals is good
but they've gone much further than they should.

Those poison snakes must live, they said
bring one near me,  you'll both be dead!

To kill a mouse or cut off its' tail
will get you 20 years in jail.

Now I've got ants here in my yard,
do I risk prison under guard?

They bite my legs and crawl up my pants,
for sure I'll kill those damn red ants!!

Weekends in jail, you can visit me,
for setting endangered species "free".

So watch your step, use extra care
Those animal crackers are everywhere.
