------The Old Cherry Orchard------

Springtime comes so slowly as you await the signs
of flowers and leaves emerging and the warmer times.
One event that's special which you anticipate each year
is cherry blossoms blooming and spreading springtime cheer.
They come and go so quickly yet save the best to come,
those bright delicious cherries, which ripen in the sun.
You try to pick the best ones though they're always at the top
each year you eat too many, they're so good that you can't stop
Next year you'll be downhearted, you passed the cherry trees today,
horses had grazed around the trees and stripped their bark away.
The trees will die for certain but old memories will surely last
those cherry blooms and cherry pies, sweet pleasures from the past.
