------Cold Rain------

I sat alone in the cold gray dawn,
listening to the soft rain falling
and the rushing torrents in the creek nearby.
I thought of warmth and you beside me
on a sunny spring morning,
watching children and tulips
growing, blooming in the park
beside the river.
Inside my thoughts, you fill my soul
with the glow of your memory.
The spirit of you lingers
bringing solace to despair
as reality devastates my universe
The rain is colder, the dark is darker
and the sun never shines on life's path.
In my ears ring words
which God must have felt
as purpose for creation
and interred within man's soul,
"For without you, I am alone".
