------The Flower of Auburn Gardens ------

you stared out from behind
the battle lines of time
eyes with no trace
of the wisdom I once sought

hands without the strength
to point and guide the way
or assist in selecting proper pieces
to fit my life puzzles

a voice which spoke bravely
with knowledge and reasoning
now sinking in sands of
doubt and uncertainy

What justice is there
to meet and defeat life's many obstacles
only to suffer
such eventual indignities

the helpness notion realized
that silver stars of determination
has achieved nothing
but an invisible existance

still, I see love shining
from within a golden heart
as I try so hard to reflect
the love, hope and trust
you so unselfishly
tried to teach.

Soon you will leave,
to reach beyond
all physical handicaps
knowing an eternity
filled with
smiles of happiness
