Melvin “Tom” Thomas Hartman, Jr., 59, a resident of Signal Mountain for over 20 years, died Saturday, July 16, 2005 in a local hospital. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam war. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Livingston University in Livingston, AL in 1972 and his Master of Arts Degree from East Texas State University in Commerce, TX in 1974. He was a member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church and was active for many years in the business community. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Thomas Hartman, Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Elizabeth Hartman of Signal Mountain; mother, Dorothy B. Hartman; sister, Christine “Tina” Hartman; and brother-in-law, Morgan “Skip” Reynolds, all of Cordova, TN; and aunt, Frances Sprenke of Affton, MO. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Dudley officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park. Visitation will be open to the public 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.
