RIDGELAND, Miss. Emma Kay Guin Long, age 65, of Ridgeland, Miss., formerly of Tuscaloosa, died March 10, 2011, at home. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Jason Wright Duren officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. James C. Guin, Jr. and Esther Kay Guin. Survivors include her brother, Judge Jim Guin (Sandy); nephew, Nathan Guin; stepdaughter, Victoria Long Long; and step-granddaughter, Anna Katherine Long. Emma Kay was born in Gulfport, Miss. on Jan. 6, 1946. She grew up in Tuscaloosa. She attended Tuscaloosa High School and graduated from Gulf Park High School in Gulfport. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from the University of Alabama. She lived in Ridgeland, Miss. for more than 20 years and worked for several companies, including MCI and SkyTel. She had many wonderful and devoted friends. The family is particularly grateful to Sissy Plott Duren, Kathy Fewel, Alpha Humble, and Betty Daugherty for their devotion and friendship. Emma Kay was an avid Crimson Tide fan and was active in the Jackson, Miss. Alabama Alumni Association.
