TUSCALOOSA | Corporal Thomas Edward (Eddie) Montgomery, born in Tuscaloosa on July 13, 1946, passed away on December 19, 2002. Services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lake United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Bishop Robert Morgan and Rev. David Carboni will officiate. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is directing. Eddie graduated from Marion Military Institute and attended the University of Alabama before enlisting for service with the Marine Corps. He served 13 months in Vietnam at KHE SANH as point man on a reconnaissance squad in the 3rd Marine division. He was awarded a purple Heart medal and received a certificate of commendation. Upon his return, he was affiliated with Montgomery wood works. He attended Forest Lake United Methodist Church. Survivors include sons, Thomas Edward Montgomery, II Tuscaloosa and William Matthew Montgomery, Atlanta, GA, parents, Ed and Ruth Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, sister, Jeannie Montgomery Hayes (Eugene), Diamondhead, MS, brother, Richard Neal Montgomery (Cindy), Tuscaloosa, Nephews, Keith Eugene Hayes (Bridget), Jacksonville, FL, Ryne Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Niece, Caroline Conner Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, and a great niece Dorian Jean Hayes, Jacksonville, FL. Pallbearers will be Tommy McMullen, Neil Moss, Ed Osborne, Wayne Guy, Eugene Hayes, Ken Montgomery, Ken Strickland, Larry Warbington. Eddie was a fun Loving man with a great sense of humor who was loved by all who knew him and he will be deeply missed by his friends and family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or the charity of your Choice.
