TUSCALOOSA - Dorothy Ray, age 71, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away April 25, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Herron officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 10 - 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Heritage Chapel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Ray; infant daughter, Dana Ray; parents, Herman and Nell Corder; and nephew, Brian Cook. Survivors include her son, Donnie Ray (Kim) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sister, Donna Cook (Larry) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brother, Lynn Corder (Melinda) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Trent, Reagan and Abbey Ray of Tuscaloosa, Ala; nephews, Brock Corder (Amanda) and Blake Corder (Angel); one great-niece; five great-nephews; and a host of family and friends. Dot Dot was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family with all her heart, especially her three grandchildren. She was very proud of all of their achievements and loved to brag about them to anyone who would listen. "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him." 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14. Pallbearers will be Trent Ray, Lynn Corder, Larry Cook, Brock Corder, Blake Corder and Jason Fife. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Brian Givhan, Dr. Jim Corder, Dr. Shelley Hill, Dr. John Miller, staff and nurses of DCH RMC TSICU, staff and nurses of Hospice of West Alabama, breezeway friends of Pine Cone Apts., Edgar Calloway, Lynn Barger, Charlie and Debbie West, the Herron family, Jim and Reba Essary, Rev. Larry and Brenda Corder, Susan Meadows and Maureen Slaight. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
