TUSCALOOSA – Albert Onroe Caddis, Jr., age 73, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away, July 17, 2019 at home. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anne Marie Caddis, his parents, Albert Onroe Caddis, Sr. “A.O.” and M. Rebecca Carter Caddis “Beck”; and grandparents, Thomas Eldridge Caddis and Lou Alma Hobson, John Elna Carter, Sr. “J.E.” and Margaret Rebecca Bondurant “Ree”. Mr. Caddis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Anne McGlamery Caddis; his four daughters, Dianna Leigh Caddis Harbin (David M.), Kathleen Caddis Kilpatrick (Mike), Frances Rebecca Caddis De La Torre (Jorge A.) and Stephanie D. Rouden (Jordan); eight grandchildren, David Michael Harbin II, Daniel Mark Harbin, Damon Matthew Harbin, Anne Marie Celeste Rouden, Andrew Rouden, Israel Rouden, Isaac Rouden and Caeli Rouden; and two great-grandchildren Lily Ann Acton and David Michael Harbin III “Trey”. Mr. “Al” Caddis was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on January 25, 1946. He was the only son of A.O. Caddis, Sr. and Rebecca Carter Caddis. He was a graduate of Tuscaloosa High School in 1964 and married Patricia Anne McGlamery on December 23, 1964. He began working with Met Life as a life insurance representative and moved on to National Cash Register Co. which motivated him to open his own business called Tuscaloosa Business Machine Co. on October 30th of 1970 with Charles Caddis and Billy Boswell. He became sole owner and eventually sold the business in 1977. He then purchased Causey’s Gulf in Duncanville, Ala. He was a skidder and truck driver for Michael J. Hubbard and Davis Laurence, Centreville, Ala.; Sales and Manager with Dowdle Gas Co., Tuscaloosa, and finished his employment and retired from Coral Industries. He enjoyed fishing on the Warrior River and spending time in the “Caddis Shack” at Lock 8. He also enjoyed playing his trombone as a member of First Baptist Church Orchestra of Tuscaloosa and was a founding member of the 5th Alabama Infantry Regiment Band. He will be honored with a Celebration of Life in September.
